So I’m standing at a urinal doing what guys do in that position, which is stare at indoor advertising and I’m faced with a dilemma, what to do with my other hand.  You see as a geek I’m intrigued by the QR Code on the ad not the scantily clad women required on US beer advertising.

QR Codes on Indoor Ads

QR Codes on Men's Room Ads

Geeky guys you can immediately see my problem. Can I snap this QR Code without dropping my phone in the drink and is it worth the risk? Ah, that’s the question, is it worth the risk?

The QR Code in this ad to the left is tied to the Miller Lite Taste Points contest is a repeat from 2011. The contest includes a Facebook app and mobile components driving contestants to get codes from specially marked Miller Lite packaging. The end game is a possible trip to Vegas? What are the chances of that? On the Facebook app you can see the number of entries increase overtime.

I sat on the app from 6:50AM to 7:15AM this morning and the number of entries for the Vegas trip went from 56 to 121. I don’t think those new entries were from people popping Miller Lites for breakfast, but instead from online activity, : ) The question for men, is it proper to snap an indoor urinal ad with one hand, or do you wait, take a step back and use two hands?
