San Francisco, CA- According to a study, cognitive behavioral therapy is a more effective way to cure insomnia than pills.
Recent poll numbers certainly seem to be in line with the study’s findings as four in ten adults who take pills are failing to fall asleep. The problem is certainly widespread and long standing as the survey reveals that 42% who are on medication have been on the medication for nearly eleven years or more.
22% had insomnia last from two to five years. The survey estimated that a third of Britons are suffering from insomnia. Meanwhile, the Great Britain Sleep Survey of more than 20,000 UK adults found that the nation’s average score of sleep quality is five out of ten.
Sleep is an influential aspect of our lives since persistently poor sleepers are twice as likely to have relationship problems and face fatigue, as well as an inability to concentrate in the day. Therefore, not only are their personal lives are affected, but so are their professional lives.
The latest survey was sponsored by Sleepio, which is an online sleep improvement program that relies on cognitive behavioral techniques instead of medicine.
Research shows that the nearly fifty-euro program can help three quarters of sleepers regain the ability to sleep within six weeks without the aid of medication.
There is no research to support the success rate of the program as of yet.
