MARKET OVERVIEW--------------------------------------------------- Asian shares finished mostly lower Friday, with Japan's Nikkei 225 index reversing direction after 6 straight days of gains as it was weighed down by automakers such as Toyota Motor (TM) and machinery maker Komatsu declined. The Nikkei closed down 0.4% and the broader Topix index fell 0.5%. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 dropped 0.1%, while South Korea's Kospi advanced 0.7%, extending gains after finishing at record highs the past 2 sessions. Turning to Europe, trading remained in a tight range as investors waited for some key data that is likely to give some clues on the state of the U.S. economy. Banks are performing well amid gains of 1.2% from Swiss investment bank UBS (UBS) as investors welcomed a decision to remove CEO Peter Wuffli after a series of setbacks. Miners were also in focus, with Rio Tinto (RTP) shares up 0.8% and rival BHP Billiton (BHP) 2.1% higher.
