Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) today announced that it has named Nalini Ranjan (N.R.) Mohanty chairman and managing director of Textron India Pvt. Ltd, a new organization charged with accessing India’s rapidly growing and diverse markets. In this role, Mohanty will report to newly appointed Textron Senior Vice President, International and Marketing, R. Siisi Adu-Gyamfi, and will be responsible for advancing Textron’s globalization strategy within the region, as well as overseeing business development and market expansion efforts for Textron companies in India.
Mohanty will work closely with Textron’s functional and business unit leaders to identify new opportunities and expand global growth in this region. He also will manage the enterprise business development staff in India to ensure success.

Mohanty joins Textron after retiring from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) as the company’s chairman and CEO. During his 33-year tenure at HAL, he held several senior level positions and made significant contributions in the development and manufacturing of various aero-engines and aircraft.
In addition, Mohanty spent five years at Indian Ordnance Factories Services and has lectured at Regional Engineering College. He served as chairman of Indo Russian Aviation Limited, a joint venture company, and also as chairman of British Aerospace-HAL Software Limited, a joint venture between HAL and British Aerospace Systems.
Mohanty holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, India (previously called the Regional Engineering College).
