LOS ANGELES, Oct. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- As the fastest-growing wine region, the Paso Robles American Viticultural Appellation (AVA) is now home to more than 180 Paso Robles wineries. Not surprisingly, the area is also seeing tremendous growth in popularity as a tourist destination. Paso Robles Wine Country is situated between Los Angeles and San Francisco, set in a beautiful landscape and has a comfortable climate. The Paso Robles wineries are a perfect setting for weddings, bachelorette and bachelor parties, bed and breakfast inns, golf, retreats, and of course wine tasting and tours.
Festivals such as the upcoming Savor the Central Coast in late September or the Harvest Wine Tour in October are popular attractions for visitors. Or save the date for next year's Zinfandel Festival in March or the Paso Robles Wine Festival in May. Foodies can check out one of the many new eateries in the area serving everything from fine dining to bistro or ethnic to California casual. At the end of your exciting day, there are an increasing number of hotels where you can find rest and relaxation such as the new La Quinta Inn on Buena Vista Drive.
Nearly 15 years ago the Riboli family, owners of San Antonio Winery, recognized the potential of this region for making world-class wines. The area's micro climates, soil types, and growing reputation for quality wines made Paso Robles an attractive area to invest. The Riboli Family has been making wine and growing grapes in this region since then.
2 years ago the family opened the Paso Robles Wine Store and Winery Gift Shop with a wine tasting room in the heart of Paso Robles, just off U.S. 101 on Highway 46 East. The wine tasting room offers complimentary tasting daily and a full boutique wine and gift store with many locally-crafted and other hard-to-find gifts. It features all San Antonio Winery wines, many made from locally-grown grapes, and a varied selection from around California and the world. This wine store is one of the most unique in the area for the variety of wines offered.
"The San Antonio Winery Paso Robles location is greatly embraced by local community because of our dedication to service and personal touch," explained Steve Riboli, a member of the four-generation, founding-family management team. "Our philosophy as a family is the customer is always right. We take the extra step, instilled by the matriarch and patriarch of our family. With this we are continuing our tradition of excellence built over 95 years in the industry."
The region is very well known for Zinfandel grapes from which San Antonio winery produces the award winning Maddalena Zinfandel. Maddalena is the name of the winery's Matriarch. Maddalena Zinfandel shows bright fruit flavors of ripe raspberry and sweet cherries. Barrel aging adds notes of cinnamon and spice. The highly versatile Syrah grape is grown in many climates but is particularly well suited for the warm climate of Paso. The coastal microclimate of the Pretty Penny Vineyard, in the Paso Robles East area, is ideal for the development of intense flavors and aromas, such as boysenberry and ripe plum. From this vineyard, San Antonio Winery produces the award winning San Simeon Syrah.
Travel to the region is much easier than in the past. Visitors can take the U.S. 101 or drive the newly expanded 46 State Highway heading west from the I-5.
The historical San Antonio Winery has been the heart of winemaking and wine culture in Los Angeles since 1917. The last of more than 100 wineries that once spread throughout Los Angeles, this fully functioning, state-of-the-art winery continues to handcraft wines from estate vineyards in Paso Robles, Napa Valley, Monterey and many other viticultural areas throughout California as well as vineyards located in Northern Italy. San Antonio also is among the last wineries owned and operated for four generations by its founding family.
The San Antonio Winery in Los Angeles boasts a comprehensive fine wine store, the gourmet Maddalena Cucina restaurant, a gift boutique and group rooms ideal for all occasions. This landmark is widely considered one of Los Angeles' most unique venues and a large part of the city's cultural fabric.
