The Colorado-based gold miner Newmont Mining (NEM) announced on Tuesday that it has hired Laurie Brlas to take over as the executive VP and chief financial officer.
Brlas had previously served as the executive VP and president of global operations at Cliffs Natural Resources (CLF); she resided there as CFO from 2006 to 2012. Brlas will be filling the role once held by Tom Mahoney, who had been covering the CFO position on an interim basis since May when Russell Ball left. It was reported that once Brlas takes over, Mahoney will remain on board as vice president and treasurer.
Newmont Mining shares crept lower on Tuesday, shedding 0.16% on the day. The stock is down 32% YTD.
