Celebrating the power and strength in beauty, COVERGIRL signs U.S. Olympic hopefuls Jennifer Kessy (Women’s Beach Volleyball) and Marlen Esparza (Women’s Boxing) to represent game-changing COVERGIRL products. LashBlast Volume and Outlast All-Day Lipcolor will be available in special, limited-edition packaging to honor both powerful women as they compete in the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Beginning in late-May, Kessy and Esparza will appear in both print and television advertisements for COVERGIRL. In the advertisements, Kessy and Esparza showcase how powerful makeup can make you look and feel confident from the inside out.
“I am thrilled to represent my family, community and country with the opportunity to be a part of the first U.S. Olympic women’s boxing team in history,” said Esparza. “This competition empowers me in so many ways, and that’s why I am proud to partner with COVERGIRL, a Brand that believes in female empowerment as much as I do.”
COVERGIRL limited-edition packaging features a specially designed Procter & Gamble (P&G) medallion encircling the trademark Olympic rings. A worldwide Olympic Games Partner, P&G announced last July their sponsorship of the next five Olympic Games starting with London in 2012.
“Kessy and Esparza show the power and strength that comes from feeling beautiful in your own skin, making them a natural fit for the COVERGIRL Brand,” said Bruce Katsman, Marketing Director, COVERGIRL Cosmetics. “We are proud to release limited-edition versions of our game-changing products, LashBlast Volume and Outlast All-Day Lip Color, to celebrate the powerful women competing in the London 2012 Olympic Games.”
Both Esparza and Kessy are new to the Olympic Games world but are fierce competitors in their own right. Esparza, a Mexican-American flyweight-division boxer from Houston, TX, has won six straight titles at the USA Boxing National Championships and took home medals in the 2006 World Championships (bronze) and 2008 Pan American Games (gold) along with winning the first U.S. Olympic Team Trials in the history of the sport of women’s boxing – new to the Olympic Games as an official sport in 2012.
Kessy, a beach volleyball player from California, and 2009 World Champion, has been a top player on the FIVB International Tour, winning 13 podiums in 2010 and 2011 and won the AVP “Most-Improved Player” award in 2004 as well as AVP “Best of the Beach” in 2008 and 2009.
“I truly am honored to be a part of the iconic COVERGIRL Brand with its rich history of empowering and embracing all women,” said Kessy. “As an athlete who has stopped at nothing to get where I am, I look forward to serving as a role model to women across the country and helping them maintain confidence in all they do – whether on or off the playing field.”
P&G will continue their “Thank you, Mom” campaign as part of their larger sponsorship of Team USA during the London 2012 Olympic Games. Visit P&G’s “Thank you, Mom” campaign directly at http://www.facebook.com/thankyoumom.
