Lenovo today announced the appointment of Scott DiValerio as senior vice president and president, Americas Group, effective December 3. He will report directly to William Amelio and be responsible for the company's sales organization across the Americas.

DiValerio, 45, replaces Rory Read, who served as acting president, Americas Group since January 2007, and will continue with the company in his current position as senior vice president, Global Operations.

DiValerio was most recently corporate vice president, Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) division at Microsoft, where he was responsible for Microsoft's relationships worldwide with makers of personal computers and other devices, multinational and regional OEMs and embedded systems manufacturers. Prior to that, DiValerio was Microsoft's corporate vice president of Finance and Administration and chief accounting officer, responsible for worldwide management and external financial reporting, financial systems, and corporate accounting.

DiValerio came to Microsoft from The Walt Disney Company, where he was a corporate vice president, and before that was a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the U.S. and Europe.

"One of our key strategies is to grow our business in the Americas, and Scott has a wide range of business experience and is well-suited to the task." said Amelio. "Scott is a great addition to the Lenovo management team, and I expect that he will hit the ground running."

DiValerio holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of San Diego, California.
